State Election: PM Anwar's "grand finale" campaign to end in Kedah

ALOR SETAR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to conclude campaigning for the state elections in Kedah on Friday.

The Pakatan Harapan Chairman will campaign across multiple districts in the state in a final push to pull votes and to wrest the Perikatan Nasional's (PN) stronghold.

Anwar will begin his agenda in Langkawi and inaugurate the Geopark Discovery Center (GDC) at 10.30 am. A public gathering is planned afterwards at Kilim Geoforest Park's GDC.

Anwar will then head to Penang for a communal lunch at Gulai Kalut Hot Stall, followed by Friday prayers at the Qaryah Mosque in Kampung Perlis.

The Madani tour will also cover the Padang Terap parliamentary constituency, allowing locals to interact with Anwar. The event will be held at Tapak Nat, Pekan Naka, Kuala Nerang, at 5 pm.

Consequently, Anwar will meet with the Taman Hidayah, Hutan Kampung community, with the session expected to commence at 8.30 pm.

Before concluding the campaign, Anwar will visit Tapak Pasaraya Aneka Gurun at 9.45 pm, followed by a "grand finale" talk at Sungai Petani.

The PKR President is expected to give a speech at 10:30 pm at Padang EUPE in Taman Ria, Sungai Petani.

The campaign's final phase holds excellent significance for PH-BN supporters as Anwar concludes the state polls campaign.

The 14-day campaign, initiated on candidate nomination day on July 29, will end at 11.59 pm on Friday.

In the last state elections, PN won 21 seats under the Kedah state assembly, comprising Pas (15) and Bersatu (6).

PH won 11 seats - PKR (5), Parti Amanah Negara (4), and DAP (2), while BN won two seats before joining hands with PH to form a unity government.

Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) won two seats but would abstain from contesting in the upcoming state polls.
