Bus driver trapped after collision with lorry

TAIPING - A man was trapped after the bus he was driving collided with the rear of a lorry at KM231 northbound on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) early this morning.

The bus driver identified as Muhammad Alwan Harun, 33, sustained injuries to his face, while the lorry driver was not injured.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.59am.

He said a team of officers and personnel from the Taiping fire station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

He said upon their arrival, the fire and rescue team found a bus driver trapped, but there were no passengers in the bus at the time of the incident.

"The victim who was trapped was extracted using specialised equipment.

"He (victim) was then handed over to the Health Department after he was successfully removed from the wreckage," he said.

He added that the operation led by Senior Fire Officer II (KUP) Ariff Fadlee Yaacob concluded at 6.25am.
