Fire dept rescues 2 infants, 8 others in Maran flash floods

MARAN - A quick response by the Pahang State Fire and Rescue Department led to the successful rescue of eight individuals, including two infant boys, following a sudden flash flood near the Sri Jaya Village Clinic early this morning.
Pahang State Fire and Rescue Department Public Relations Officer, Zulfadli Zakaria said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4:58 am.
The team comprising seven personnel and two officers, along with four vehicles, including an aluminum boat dispatched from the Maran Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the scene.
"The operations commander confirmed the flash flood incident in the affected residential area.
"All victims, consisting of three adult males, one elderly male, one young male, one female child and two infant boys were rescued from within a house with floodwaters reaching a depth of 0.5 meters," he said in a statement, today.
Zulfadli added that the rescue team used a boat to ensure the safe evacuation of the victims to a secure location.
