People are tired of political instability, says Jamaliah
KUALA LUMPUR - Pakatan Harapan (PH) Bandar Utama candidate Jamaliah Jamaluddin says that the people are tired of political instability racial sentiments brought by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
Jamaliah, who spoke at a hustings at Happy Mansion, Petaling Jaya, said that if PN wins the state election, the stability of the federal government will be compromised, which is an unhealthy development for nation building.
She said that while the state elections would determine the matter of local constituents, it was essential to realise how the results on Aug 12 would affect the nation on a federal level.
"At the end of the day, I think the most important thing we have to realise is that we are also choosing tomorrow's government.
"Will it be PH or PN who will be the government and Menteri Besar for the next five years?" she later told Sinar Daily.
She added that PH had been open to share and debate on their track record, and if compared to left and right with PN, a significant difference in administration could be seen.
"Are the people convinced that PN can deliver similarly to what PH has delivered for the past five years," she questioned.
However, Jamaliah reiterated that no matter who the people in Bandar Utama have voted for, it would not lessen her attitude and feelings towards what she needed to do.
"When you are doing a job as a state assemblyman, you'll have to give 120 percent to everyone, no matter who they vote.
"The resident associations in Bandar Utama have been very kind to me, and I hope to continue and finish what I have started here," she pointed out.
Jamaliah, who is also the incumbent assemblywoman at Bandar Utama, said she will do her very best to serve the area.
She said that Bandar Utama is already a very mature development area, so there would probably be no new developments moving forward.
"What we are striving for is for Bandar Utama to be a better and more comfortable area.
"We will look into more public facilities and low-hanging fruits that we can solve, such as water pipeline and flash flood issues," she said.
Jamaliah would seek to continue her second term in Bandar Utama, where she would compete against Abe Lim Hooi Sean from Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) and Aliff Taufid from PN in a three-cornered fight.
