PH candidate to look into living condition, drainage system issues in Perai

PERAI - Pakatan Harapan (PH) Perai candidate Sundarajoo Somu pledges to look into living conditions and drainage system issues in Perai.

Speaking to Sinar Daily, Sundarajoo said that some villages in Perai have many outstanding issues that need a major revamp.

"Some remote areas, especially Kampung Manis and Kampung Mainroad, have many outstanding issues.

"For Kampung Manis, we have done our rounds twice, and the majority of them are Malays and Indians who are living in a terrible condition.

"I have spoken to the land owner, and he plans to do a redevelopment in the near future," he said.

Sundarajoo further said that he wants to fix the major drainage problem that leads to floods.

This is because the houses on Kampung MainRoad are built below water levels.

"Unfortunately, the houses there are built below water levels; I will sit down with the local council to re-look at the whole thing as a re-development.

"I was made to understand there are watergates; some pumps are not functioning.

"It makes me wonder what the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) and counsellors have been doing in the past," he said.

There might be some communication breakdown, Sundarajoo said, adding that he will do what is necessary to correct and sort out the problem.
