SIK - The political stage should not be a platform for hurling harsh words or slander at opponents; instead, every candidate should practice mature and healthy politics.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Jeneri state seat, Datuk Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim, stated that throughout the remaining days of the state election campaign, he constantly reminds himself not to utter harsh words or engage in slander.

"I only speak boldly when delivering a speech or addressing the audience; even then, it comes from my heart and I do not engage in slander or use offensive language.

"I will not attack my opponent's personal character; I only explain what I will do if chosen. I believe this embodies mature and healthy politics," he explained.

According to Muhamad Khizri, challenging the incumbent, Caretaker Kedah's Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, may be difficult, but it is not impossible for change to occur.

"I am aware that it is not easy, but it is not impossible. I recognize that the current Menteri Besar is very popular. Whenever he speaks or engages on social media, he garners interest. However, all will be revealed and translated on Aug 12.

"I am just being myself; popularity is not a priority for me. However, when I meet with the people and provide explanations for the development benefits here, I feel that I can win," he said

He stated that if elected as a representative of the people, the first thing he promised to do is to request the establishment of Form Six classes to provide local students with opportunities to continue their studies.

"In addition, I will follow up on the delayed project to construct the Ulul Albab Mara Junior Science College (MRSM), which has been pending since the 14th General Election," he said.

At the same time, he hopes to change the fate of the residents in the area by boosting the economy and providing job opportunities to enable them to increase their income.

Muhamad Khizri, representing Umno, will go head-to-head in a straight battle for the Jeneri state assembly seat with Muhammad Sanusi (PN) in the Kedah state elections.

In the 14th General Election,Sanusi, who is also PN's Election Campaign director won the Jeneri seat after defeating incumbent, Mahadzir Abdul Hamid from Umno, and PKR candidate Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan.

The Jeneri state assembly constituency has approximately 35,079 voters, with over 90 percent of them Malay.
