Upcoming state polls more crucial than GE15, says Kit Siang
PERAI - The upcoming state election is more crucial than the last 15th General Election (GE15), says Lim Kit Siang.
This is because the polls' results could be a deciding factor in whether Malaysia could become a world-class nation or continue losing to other nations.
"This state election on Saturday is more important than GE15 because it will decide, among other things, whether Malaysia can reverse the decline in the last two decades and become a great world-class nation or we continue to lose to other nations.
"We have lost to Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and even Vietnam. We might also lose to India or Indonesia in the future," he said when met at Taman Chai Leng today.
The veteran DAP leader also expressed his wish to see Malaysia in a better position for future generations.
"Either we win as a world-class nation or we end up celebrating our 100th Anniversary in 2057 as a divided, failed, and corrupted state like Sri Lanka.
"We don't want that. We want Malaysia to succeed; we want Malaysia to be in a better place for future generations," he said.
Commenting further, Lim praises Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his excellency and hard work to make Malaysia a top country without corruption.
"What we learned in the 22 months of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government is that things cannot be changed overnight; it takes time.
"For the first time, we have a prime minister with a vision who wants Malaysia to be a world-class nation.
"Anwar talks about raising Malaysia to the top 30 countries with a good economy and the top country in the world without corruption," he added.
