BN's acceptance growing, says Ismail Sabri
NAZRIN ZULKAFLISHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said support for Barisan Nasional (BN) is growing throughout the state election campaign, despite certain states being strongholds of opposition parties.
He said this was based on the response he received while campaigning in several spots across Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu.
"I have been to several places such as in Negeri Sembilan, two parliamentary constituencies namely Kuala Pilah and Tampin. In Terengganu, I went to Besut.
"The progress seems to be very good. I see from the places I go, the open support for Barisan Nasional is very clear although in certain states, it seems that the other party is too strong, but when I got there, the acceptance was very encouraging.
"So I think that this is a signal to the vote that will be given on Aug 12," he said after attending the Kenduri Rakyat at Felda Sungai Kelamah yesterday.
Also present were Tampin MP Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa and BN candidate for Gemencheh state assembly Suhaimizan Bizar.
Ismail said that it is difficult to expect the same wave as the 15th General Election (GE15) to also occur in the state polls this time.
"I might have not gone to all the states, but in the areas that I'd been to like Felda Sungai Kelamah, the reception was lively and the response was very positive towards BN.
"Here and also Besut are Umno strongholds, so the response was encouraging and I hope that the response here and in Terengganu are the same as in other places," he said.
Ismail also urged the people to vote for BN in the upcoming state elections, saying that the coalition is the only party that can bring stability and development to the country.
"BN has a proven track record of delivering results. We have built the infrastructure, created jobs, and improved the lives of the people.
"We need your support to continue this progress. Vote for BN on Aug 12 and together, let us build a better Malaysia," he said.
