PH-BN still undecided on Kedah MB candidate, says Mahfuz

ALOR SETAR - Both Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) have yet to come to an agreement as to who is their Kedah Menteri Besar candidate despite the countdown to state polls draws nearer.
The partnering coalition’s lack of a sole persona to be touted as their Kedah MB candidate throughout the campaign period was disclosed by Kedah PH chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar.
Instead, said Mahfuz who is vying for the Alor Mengkudu state seat, PH-BN will leave matters concerning the appointment of MB to the wisdom of the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Badlishah.
“We haven’t decided it yet, so far. It all depends on who [from PH and BN] will be summoned by the Sultan.
“Nothing has been set in stones. We will wait for our victory, propose a few names and leave to the judgement of the Sultan,” said Mahfuz.
Unlike PH-BN, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has repeatedly revealed in many hustings that its Kedah MB candidate will be Caretaker MB, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who Mahfuz claimed will not be accepted by Kedahans at large.
“Indeed, it’s true that he is famous among his supporters and party members but in order to win they need to win at least 19 seats,” Mahfuz added.
On August 12, a total of 1,585,085 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in an electoral contest involving 83 candidates vying for Kedah’s 36 state seats.
