Amirudin regrets SMG issues still being raised
SHAH ALAM – Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari once again emphasised that the issue regarding the cleaning of the Klang River and the joint effort with Berjaya Land Sdn Bhd has already both been addressed here and in Parliament earlier this year.
However, Amirudin expressed frustration that the issue was still being used as a political topic by irresponsible parties ahead of the upcoming state elections in Selangor.
"Regarding the issue of the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) project initiative related to the cleaning of the Klang River and the joint effort with Berjaya Land Sdn Bhd, I already provided an answer earlier this year.
"Until now, this false accusation is still being repeated as cheap political moves by those lacking moral values," he wrote on his Twitter page today.
Last week, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, during the Mega PN Best "Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera" campaign in Dataran Darul Aman, Jitra, alleged a scandal involving Amirudin and Berjaya Corporation Berhad founder and advisor Tan Sri Vincent Tan, claiming that they intended to carry out a RM10 billion project in the Klang River.
In return, the tycoon would allegedly receive 242 hectares of land in Selangor, causing the government an estimated loss of around RM180 million.
Landasan Lumayan, the main developer of the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) project initiatives, was appointed by former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Azmin Ali.
Landasan Lumayan, a subsidiary of MBI which holds 45 percent of the land, and Berjaya Hartanah Berhad (55 percent), formed a special purpose company through a joint venture known as Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn Bhd (LLBSB), among other purposes, to clean and develop the Klang River.
