State polls: 'People's rejection towards Unity Government a sign Anwar not PM of choice' - Muhyiddin

KUALA NERUS - The people's rejection of the Unity Government in the upcoming state polls is a sign that the country is rejecting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin claimed that the rejection is also a referendum on the people's disappointment with Anwar's leadership, which is perceived as incompetent in managing the country.
"So if we feel disappointed in the Madani Government under Anwar Ibrahim, then don't support Anwar and don't support Barisan Nasional (BN), but support PN.
"There are about nine million voters across the six states. If seven million voters decide not to support Anwar, then Anwar has already received the sign that Malaysians do not want him as Prime Minister," he said.
He was speaking at the 'Santai Petang dengan Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin' programme here on Monday.
Commenting further, Muhyiddin claimed that the rejection shows that the voters do not agree with everything done by the Unity Government.
"If those who come out don't support it, it shows that they don't like it (the government), and so we hope that it will happen in the state election later," he said.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said that he respects the decision of Bersatu supreme council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman to leave the party.
"That's okay. He made a decision for his own reasons, and I don't want to comment on it. We place no obstacles or restrictions on anyone.
"He should have understood our fight and been patient. Even if there is something we are not satisfied with, we can solve it within the party like a family, but it's okay. He made his decision, so we respect it," he commented.
Earlier today, Faiz announced his resignation and left the party.
He claimed that the initial objective of the party establishment has become increasingly deviant as it intends to replace Umno by giving more space to young people and new faces, especially those with a clean background.
