Three-year-old on a scooter killed after being rammed by 4WD

JOHOR BAHRU - A three-year-old boy died after being hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle in a luxury residential area in this city on Friday.

Based on a viral video, the child who was riding a scooter was seen stopping at an intersection before a black four-wheel drive came crashing into him.

The child was reported to have died at the scene while the driver escaped unharmed.

Earlier, a 21-second video of the accident went viral on social media.

South Johor Bahru district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat when contacted confirmed receiving a report of the accident and pointed out that he was conducting an investigation.

"The 32-year-old driver of the four-wheel drive vehicle is being investigated according to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said when contacted by reporters.

He said, if convicted, the driver could be fined between RM20,000 and RM50,000, and jailed for between five and 10 years.
