TANAH MERAH - Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says there is a list of potential Kelantan Menteri Besar candidates if Pakatan Harapan (PH)-BN wins the state polls.

The deputy Prime Minister said the list would be announced after the coalition wins the upcoming state election on Aug 12.

"We have a list, but we will announce it when we get enough seats to form a government.

"We don't want to step ahead of what was predestined by Allah, and the appointment of a Menteri Besar must be through the sultan's order and decree," he said in a press conference after officiating the Community Development Department (Kemas) Potential Day and Smart Village Programme at the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Golden Triangle (IMT-GT) Bukit Bunga Plaza here on Monday.

Zahid said the list of Menteri Besar candidates was brought forward to him by Kelantan BN chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub when he was focusing on the work to win at least half the seats in all six states.

"These names were brought forward by the state BN to me.

"PH-BN however, targeted winning seats following the states; for example, Kelantan required 23 seats to form a government, or Kedah had 19 seats," Zahid said.

Previously, the media reported Kelantan Pas explained it did not require giving any foreshadowing on who would become the menteri besar as long as the elections were ongoing.
