Green Electricity Tariff subscription resumes from Aug 11
AISYAH BASARUDDINSHAH ALAM - Applications for the new subscription quota under the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) programme will resume on Aug 11 from 11am to 5pm.
Customers will not be charged for Implementation of Unbalanced Cost-Cost Release Mechanism (ICPT) for total electricity consumption from renewable energy sources (TBB), according to the Energy Commission (ST), but it is restricted to the subscribed GET.
The GET programme, according to ST, is a subscription-based option for eco-friendly customers or organisations with the goals of Environment, Social, and Governance to receive electricity from TBB sources for home and business.
"Users of this programme will also receive international recognition via the Malaysia New Energy Certificate, which will be awarded at the end of the calendar year.
"It recognises the total amount of electricity consumption from TBB sources throughout the subscription period," ST said in a statement on Monday.
On July 27, the Economy Ministry unveiled the first phase of National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which is projected to open up investment opportunities ranging from RM435 billion to RM1.85 trillion by 2050.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli indicated that people can rent or pawn their roofs to firms under the NETR to increase their income without the cost of installing solar panels; instead, the company will pay clients on a monthly basis.
Furthermore, ST indicated that a programme briefing will be held on Aug 8 at 9.30 am.
ST further stated that companies interested in learning more about the program are invited to attend the online session at http://tiny.cc/GETbriefing.
