Hanif to LGE: Use our water and have the cheek to call Kedah a poor state?
SUNGAI PETANI - Kedahans were urged to vote for Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the coming state polls in order to put an end to the unfair usage of the Sungai Muda waters by Penang.
The call was made PN candidate for the Tanjung Dawai state seat Hanif Ghazali, who stressed that it was upsettingly unjust for Penang to use more than half of said water without paying a single cent.
“Kedah uses only 46 per cent of the Sungai Muda water, whereas Penang uses 54 per cent without paying us a dime.
“We have sacrificed a lot to maintain the water catchment area in the Ulu Muda forest. Penang has paid us nothing. This is grossly unfair.
“And some in Penang have the cheek to call Kedah a poor state. Enough is enough. It is clear that our sacrifices were not appreciated at all,” said Hanif at a hustings here, tonight.
Hanif’s commentary over lopsided water usage by Penang came following a remark by Pakatan Harapan’s Air Putih candidate Lim Guan Eng who cautioned Penangites to vote for PN.
He slammed the incumbent Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu government for their inability to provide clean water to its citizens.
"These three states are poor. Do you want us to be like them?," said Lim at tonight’s hustings at Kebun Bunga, Georgetown tonight.
