REMBAU - Voters in the six states involved in the upcoming state elections, including members of the Perikatan Nasional (PN), were asked to allow the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the unity government to govern the state, parallel with the central government.

Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said they need to be wise in choosing a government that can bring development and prosperity to the people.

"If he (PN) can ask Umno members to support PN, I want to ask PN members to support BN and the unity government; let's both ask.

"Our job during this campaign is to convince and persuade voters to understand the differences between the two parties running. We will work hard to explain these differences clearly and compellingly," he told reporters when met in Kuala Sawah on Sunday.

Mohamad, Rantau candidate, said there are only two coalitions (PH-BN and PN) compared to before, thus making it easier for voters to decide.

It was also reported that PN Secretary General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin had asked Umno members to support PN if they cared about the party's future.

Hamzah said this was the only way to change the party's future and regain acceptance from the people.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Umno Chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias described Hamzah's statement as a desperate act by PN to win the votes of Umno members.

Jalaluddin also insisted that it was an approach taken by most PN leaders.
