Sungai Pinang candidate says she is 'nosy' about basic needs of residents

JELUTONG - Sungai Pinang is among the areas in Penang that demands the most maintenance funds from the state government, says Sungai Pinang incumbent state assemblyman Lim Siew Khim.

Speaking to residents at a high-tea programme at Taman Mutiara Vista, Lim said that she is often labelled as "nosy" because she is always curious about the needs of the people and demands allocations for their welfare.

"The report card shows that Sungai Pinang demands the most in maintenance funds.

"I always raise my questions by following up with the superior because I know the importance of basic needs for the people here," she said.

Lim further said that the Penang state government allocated some maintenance funds for Sungai Pinang, which benefited more than 20 flats.

"The state government gave some amount under maintenance funds which benefitted 23 flats in Sungai Pinang alone.

"With the allocations, more than 40 projects went through maintenance phase such as replacing faulty roofs, fixing leaking water tanks and faulty lifts," she added.

Lim said that this was possible because of the unity in the current government.

"All this are for the happiness, harmony and development of our country.

"When we are united, we get more allocations, for example, the Transport Minister said LRT would be coming in Penang.

"Only if we are united, we can attract the investors to our country," she said.

Lim will be facing a four-cornered fight in Sungai Pinang seat this time. Along with Lim, Andrew Rajah (Independent), Ng Fook On (Gerakan) and Abdul Ghani Haroon (PRM) are also eyeing the seat.

The Election Commission (EC) has set Aug 12 as the voting day and Aug 8 as the early voting day.
