State polls: Machang Bubok candidate found unconscious in his office
GEORGETOWN - Machang Bubok candidate Lee Khai Loon was found unconscious in his office on Sunday afternoon.
Lee, who is from PKR, is the incumbent for the state seat.
The incident was made known via his Facebook page at 12.30pm, with a photo showing Lee lying down and being helped by his assistant.
Based on the photo's description, Lee's programmes scheduled for Sunday were all cancelled following the incident.
Meanwhile, Penang PKR deputy chairman Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, when contacted, said that Lee was in good health and was resting at home.
He said the 45-year-old was just tired because he was busy campaigning for the state election.
"I was informed that he was tired due to campaigning every day, coupled with the current hot weather. However, it is nothing serious.
"The incident happened at his service centre, and at that time, some of his officers were on duty. He fainted for a while after returning from campaigning," he said.
He added, Lee is a leader who has a good level of health.
"He is young and still 'fit, and as far as I know, he does not have any illness. All the programmes planned for today (Sunday) are cancelled because he needs to rest.
"He has been campaigning non-stop since last July to ensure victory in favour of PH, thus allowing PKR to defend the seat there," he said.
The Machang Bubok seat held by Lee saw a one-on-one clash between him and the candidate from the Perikatan Nasional, Tan Hum Wei.
Penang has 40 state assembly seats, and in the 2018 General Election, PH won 37 seats.
