State polls: Selangorians hope Amirudin makes a comeback as MB
SHAH ALAM - Selangor citizens wish Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to make a comeback and continue governing in the state for the next five years.
The incumbent Selangor MB, they said, had served the state well and had been an inclusive and progressive leader for all Selangorians.
Former Klang council member Puspavali Mahalinggam said that working with Amirudin had been a pleasure and she wished for him to return to office stronger and better for the people of Selangor after the polls.
“Being a council member for two terms, many programmes that have been done on the council level were supported by Datuk Amirudin.
“I want him to be retained as MB because there are a lot of projects going on, and having him back in the office will ensure the continuity and stability of these projects,” she emphasised.
Puspavali further added that Amirudin has been a very attentive leader in the community and was always willing to listen to their problems.
“He always has the space to find a solution through the council. It is very easy for us when there is an MB who supports us and is always on the ground to help us,” she said.
Social activist Datuk VM Panjamorthy, 69, expressed that Amirudin was a very approachable and humble person who frequently mingles with the people and gets involved at the grassroots level.
“In most cases, politicians will be on the ground to rub shoulders with common people and fish for votes for the sake of winning but after the election, they neglect the citizens and will only send out representatives to liaise with us.
“However, Amirudin is not like that and is someone who truly cares for his constituents,” he said.
Commenting further, 25-year-old researcher Meerashrie Kumar also stated that she was happy that Amirudin would be recontesting and named as potential MB candidate and pointed out that his manifesto is very comprehensive and there are not too many unrealistic promises.
“I myself am very tired of unfulfilled promises, but with Amirudin's track record, I am sure it will be carried out and he won't backtrack on his words,” she said
She also expressed that many politicians underdeliver severely, but that was not the case with Amirudin.
“Amirudin has been serving Selangor very well for the past five years, although Penang and Negeri Sembilan have grown exponentially, Selangor is still the centre of economic activity and prosperity,” she said.
The researcher added that she hoped the Amirudin and the unity government would win by a landslide so the people can hold their leaders accountable for the promises they made and ensure all their voices are heard by the government.
Amirudin is contesting in the Sungai Tua state assembly on Aug 12. He would be seeking reelection as both assemblyman and reappointment as the Selangor Menteri Besar for the upcoming state election on Aug 12.
