Negeri Sembilan is more prosperous under PH - Edy Noor

SEREMBAN - Claims by the Negeri Sembilan Bersatu information chief Muhammad Noraffendy Mohd Salleh that the state’s development under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government was imbalanced is a baseless and substantiated statement.

Negeri Sembilan PKR information secretary Edy Noor Reduan said the Bersatu leader should study the developments taking place in the state first before making such statements.

"This is because such actions would reveal his lack of knowledge.

"The development in Negeri Sembilan is well-balanced, where progress is in line with social development, human capital education, and religion," he said in a statement today.

He said Negeri Sembilan was also recognised as a 'happy state' in 2021, indicating that the state's development was well-balanced and favoured by the people.

Furthermore, Negeri Sembilan, especially in Seremban, Nilai, Pajam, Enstek, Sendayan, Senawang, Sikamat and various other areas became a preferred residential area for residents from the Klang Valley.

"This is a proud fact as it indirectly indicates the rapid economic growth of the state.

"This is evident through the economic overflow, with many well-planned new towns emerging in Negeri Sembilan," he added.

Moreover, he stated that the claim that the state's government revenue of RM500 million, or the actual value of RM556 million, should not be rendered insignificant, as it is the result of the state's efforts not including logging or petroleum mining activities.

He further pointed out that the budget surplus for that year was RM147 million, or 26 per cent higher than the expenditure.

"Comparatively, in Terengganu, the tax collection is only RM65 million, and the non-tax revenue is RM135 million.

"The rest, RM1.609 billion, comes from non-tax revenue, which is a special federal government fund through petroleum royalties. This is not present in Negeri Sembilan, yet the state is far more advanced under the administration of the State Government and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun," he said.

Additionally, he said the accusation that Negeri Sembilan natives have to go elsewhere to study was malicious.

Edy Noor emphasised that Negeri Sembilan was a rich hub of knowledge with various educational institutions throughout the state.

"Schools in Negeri Sembilan also perform well, achieving the highest Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia results after Putrajaya for seven consecutive years since 2015," he said.
