KUALA LUMPUR - A wound on the head, did not stop city police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain from completing the the 2023 KL Cops Urbanathlon challenge.

Shuhaily looked eager to complete the 'task' in an event he officiated at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), here, today.

He also showed his skills and successfully climbed the rope which was one of the challenges at the event.

The KL Cops Urbanathlon was held for the first time today with 180 participants involving 36 teams consisting of 10 departments and six police districts under the Kuala Lumpur Police administration including the media team.

Shuhaily said the objective of the programme was to strengthen relations among the Kuala Lumpur Police force by practicing a healthy lifestyle through sports, running, cycling and others.

"Through this programme, we can see how these teams work together.

"In addition to 10 departments and six police districts, we also invited media practitioners represented by two media teams," he said here, today.

Commenting on the programme, he said participants had to go through various obstacles, including a one kilometre run wearing a bulletproof vest, crawling under a truck, flipping a big tire and climbing a wall.

He added that the city police will continue organising this programme in the future in an effort to strengthen the relationship between the community and the police.

"We will maintain public participation in this programme and see the preparations that need to be made on a large scale," he said.

Shuhaily said his participation in the programme reminded him of the memories he had during his childhood where he did various extreme activities.

"When participating in a programme like this, we recall the time when children climbed walls and so on.

"It brings back memories of the past while playing sports and at the same time seeing whether the body's endurance is the same as before or not," he said.
