Financial problems reason behind clerk's murder by employer

SERDANG - Financial problems were belived to be the reason behind the murder of an office clerk before his body was found inside a gunny sack at a metal scrapyard in Taman Bukit Serdang, near here yesterday.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner A A Anbalagan said initial investigations revealed that the victim, a foreign man residing in Seri Kembangan, allegedly took a sum of money from the company he worked at.

"The 41-year old victim was believed to have taken a sum of money from a used and secondhand goods company.

"Investigations revealed that the suspect, believed to be the victim's employer, then kept the victim confined for several days before the victim was killed," he said in a statement today.

He said that so far, a total of 13 individuals, including three women, have been detained to assist in the investigation.

"All of them were arrested in Klang Valley; however, the three women were released after their statements were recorded.

"Meanwhile, ten men aged between 20 and 58, who were the employers and acquaintances of the victim, have been remanded for seven days for further investigation," he said.

He added that the cause of the victim's death was still under investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
