SIK - The political leaders in this country are reminded to refrain from passionately sowing promises of the moon and the stars to gain the support of the people but fail to deliver, warned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Pakatan Harapan Chairman also condemned some political leaders' inappropriate behaviour and language.

Anwar said his extensive experience, including imprisonment, has made him mature in politics.

"Politics is not just about making a promise; you can promise anything and everything, but you must deliver it.

"And being a minister, deputy minister, or menteri besar is also not about fighting in speeches, going everywhere fighting and speaking angrily, swearing in front of people," he said while speaking at the FELDA Teloi Timur public square on Friday.

Anwar urged the people not to be fooled by the claims of some parties that they are clean of wrongdoings.

According to him, there is evidence of previous leaders who did such things.

He, however, did not name any of the leaders he was referring to.

"We have oil, gas, timber; we have natural products. Stop lying to people that you're clean and free of corruption. Don't deceive the people of Kedah, saying 'we are clean'. What clean? You monopolised all the contracts.

"Ask me, the Finance Minister... I have the files. I don't slander people, and I don't trash-talk people. That's not my practice," he said.
