The Madani economy failed – Muhyiddin
SHAH ALAM – Perikatan Nasional chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin described the Madani economy outlined by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a failure and something that is temporary in nature
Muhyiddin said the Madani economy fell short of providing a comprehensive and quick economic stimulus and recovery strategy, which people and businesses urgently require at this time.
"On the other hand, the people are sprinkled with election sweets which are temporary and have yet to arrive," he said at the launch of Selangor PN manifesto launch here.
Anwar had previously announced the Madani Economy Initiative: Empowering the People, which is aimed at rebuilding the Malaysian economy and is intended to bring an overflow of revenue to enable the people to enjoy a better quality of life.
Anwar who is also the Finance minister had said that the economic framework is a comprehensive plan for Malaysia to face various challenges and issues related to the country's competitiveness and attractiveness as an investment destination, as well as outline actions to deal with current issues impacting people's lives.
The Madani Economy establishes seven benchmarks as medium-term goals to be achieved within ten years.
Muhyiddin also stated that the solution to the people's problem of rising living costs has yet to be addressed, and all of their beautiful promises have yet to be realised.
