PERMATANG PAUH - Permatang Pauh MP Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan has urged the federal government to approve the Kedah Aerotropolis logistics hub project, saying that it would help to solve the traffic issues in the area.

Fawwaz said that Permatang Pauh is a rural area, surrounded by cities, and that the people there are facing a lot of traffic congestion.

“Permatang Pauh is a rural area, surrounded by cities. However, when I go down to the ground, the rakyat here are facing traffic issue,” he told Sinar Daily

He said the Kedah Aerotropolis project would create a new highway connecting Penang to Kulim, Kulim to Sungai Petani, and then to Padang Besar.

"This would give people in the north of Malaysia two options for traveling to the northern states, and would help to reduce traffic congestion," he added.

The Kedah Aerotropolis logistics hub project is a large-scale development that is expected to cost RM7 billion.

The project will be reportedly funded by the private sector, and does not require any funds from the federal government.

Fawwaz said that he hopes that the federal government will approve the project soon, so that it can begin to address the traffic issues in Permatang Pauh.
