Two siblings were left unconscious after falling into pond

SANDAKAN - Two siblings were left unconscious after falling into a fish pond at Kampung Sungai Kayu Batu 7, here on Wednesday.

The victims known as Natasya, 19, and her brother Mohd Awira, 11, were saved by the public before they were brought to the hospital on Wednesday.

Sabah Malaysia Fire and Rescue services (JBPM) Operations Division's deputy director Hamsa Isnurdini said he received the call on the incident at 11.40am.

He said the firemen from the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were sent to the scene 10 kilometres away.

"Both victims were believed to have slipped into the pond and were saved by those at the scene.

"However, both victims were unconscious and the firemen sent them to the hospital for further treatments," he said in a statement.

Hamsa said the operations ended at noon after both victims were handed over to the hospital.
