SANDAKAN - The boy missing from the capsized boat incident on Tuesday was found drowned at the Tanjung Batu waters here.

Romy Azlan, seven, was found at 11.08am on Wednesday by the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (Malaysia Maritime) who were in charge of the the search and rescue (SAR) operations at the scene.

Sandakan Fire and Rescue Services Department (BBP) chief Severinus@Mohd Nidzam Sainkui said the SAR operations for the victim had entered its second day since it began at 9.28am on Wednesday.

"At 11.08am the victim was reported to be found by Maritime Malaysia 600 metres from the capsized boat's location.

"The victim's remains was then given to the police for further action," he said in a statement.

He said the operation ended at 12.03pm after the discovery of the boy's body.

Sinar on Tuesday reported that the victim was missing after the boat he rode with five of his family members had capsized.

They were reportedly departing from the Timbang Island jetty heading towards Kampung Mumiang and the boat had struck a floating object causing it to lose control and overturned.
