Low voter turnout in Penang could dilute sentiment against PH rivals - Nurul Izzah
BUTTERWORTH – Penang PKR chief Nurul Izzah Anwar has called on all registered voters in the state to come out in droves to cast their ballots on Aug 12.
She said that a low voter turnout would not be productive for a state that is aiming to showcase the achievements of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government at the state level.
“A low turnout may also dilute the sentiment of the majority of residents here that they simply detest the tactics of lies and slander as espoused by the PH rivals,” Nurul Izzah said.
She was addressing the audience at the launching of the Penang PH-Barisan Nasional unity 16-point manifesto at the Penang International Convention Centre here last night.
“It is important to send a message by voting as people will not stand for the politics of hatred and lies,” she said.
Nurul Izzah said that opportunists wield webs of lies and slander everywhere in the world, as it was easier to do so than to campaign based on the premise of truth.
"It is your democratic right to choose the most capable person to represent you. You must do your part to ensure a clean, corrupt-free nation for you and your children.
"The manifesto launch also marks the unity between PH and Barisan Nasional in their shared goals for the state," she added.
