ALOR SETAR - The Kedah police have opened an investigation paper over a report of an insult against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, through a video recording uploaded on social media.

Kedah police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad said the report was lodged by a member of the Umno Pendang Committee at the Pendang police station at 1.45pm yesterday.

"Police received a report related to the insult against the Prime Minister.

"The complainant came across a TikTok account under the name 'Projek Papa' and found that the content of the video contains elements insulting the Prime Minister and incitement that could cause annoyance and division among the people," he said in a statement today.

Alzafny said the case was being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988.

Therefore, he advised the public not to touch on the sensitivities of any race or individual during the period of the state elections campaign - AWANI
