No criminal element in charred disabled teenager case - Police
MANJUNG - Police have not found any criminal element in the incident of a fire that claimed the life of a 15-year-old disabled person (PWD) at Kampung Dato Seri Kamaruddin near here yesterday.
Manjung District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Nordin Abdullah stated that case was classified as a sudden death.
He said investigations revealed that during the incident, the victim, who was an Indonesian citizen, was alone at home.
"The victim lived with his mother and sister, but they were not at home during the incident.
"Based on records, the victim had been bedridden since childhood and had a history of epilepsy treatment," he said in a statement yesterday.
He said the emergency call for the incident was received from the public at 4.08 pm.
He added that rescue and firefighting operations were carried out by the Fire and Rescue Department together with the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) before finding the victim’s body.
"The public with information related to the incident is requested to come forward to assist in the investigation," he said.
In the incident, the charred victim was found lying on a bed in a room during the operation.
