Student dies after hitting cow crossing road

SIK - A student on his motorcycle died after hitting a cow that was crossing a road at Jalan Kampung Kota Bukit on Monday.
Sik district police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdull Razak Osman said that the victim was identified as Mohd Hammem Abd Halim and was a second form student at a school here.
He said that the 14-year-old victim died from severe head and body injuries.
"In the accident at 6.30pm, the victim was reported to be riding a motorcycle from Kampung Langgok towards Kampung Kota Bukit.
"Upon arrival at the scene, a cow suddenly crossed the road causing the victim to suddenly avoid it and he ended up hitting the cow," he said when contacted on Tuesday.
According to him, the accident resulted in the victim's head being seriously injured and he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at Sik Hospital Emergency Unit at 9.35pm.
"The case is investigated according to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
