Manifesto not a populist promise - Amirudin
SHAH ALAM - Selangor Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) recently launched the Kita Selangor Pledge: 'Five Commitments to Continue Five Years of Excellence in Selangor'.
The pledge launched by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari involved five commitments which covered 53 programmes for the people.
Amirudin, who is also the State PH chairman said that the programme which was being planned and will be implemented was for the stability and prosperity of Selangor in a five-year timeline.
He explained that the plan was not a 'populist' promise, but will be immediately implemented in Selangor, if the people gave their mandate to the caretaker government in the state elections happening on Aug 12.
"These are our five commitments for the people of Selangor for the next five years. This is a promise from all PH-BN Selangor candidates and our entire team to bring Selangor towards a more stable, developed, peaceful, and harmonious state, which stands out in Malaysia and Southeast Asia," he said.
Amirudin who is also the candidate for the Sungai Tua state seat said this at the Kita Selangor Pledge: 'Five Commitments to Continue Five Years of Excellence in Selangor' and the state unity candidate introduction session at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Section 7 here on Monday.
Also present at the event were Selangor DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, Selangor Party Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairman Ir Izham Hashim and Selangor BN chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
The Five Commitments, included superior economy and quality education as a catalyst for high-income job opportunities with 14 pledges focusing on economic development, modern agricultural industry, aerospace, rail and electric buses, 5G services, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and e-sports.
The commitments also offered 100,000 high-paying job opportunities to the young people of Selangor by attracting local and foreign investment.
The state government will also work with the federal government to establish a third port on Carey Island, Port Klang so that Selangor becomes a major investment destination in Southeast Asia.
Part of the commitment also included creating three new townships in Sepang, Sabak Bernam and along the Klang River, led by PKNS, MBI and the private sector, equipped with affordable housing for the people of Selangor.
The programme also includes a fare subsidy and the cost of performing Hajj amounting to RM2,000 if PH-BN can form the state government in Selangor.
Amirudin said that the subsidy will be given to 3,000 first-time pilgrims.
"This is contained under the framework of religion as a motivation and inspiration for a better life in Selangor.
"In addition, an increased Syariah legal fund, valued at RM3 million is also offered to help women in need," he said.
Amiruddin explained that the Kita Selangor Pledge also included sustainable, comfortable, and livable development as well as focusing on Selangor as a caring state that defends the interests of the people.
