Jeram Padang BN candidate breaks leg, apologises to voters
JEMPOL - Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Jeram Padang seat Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir broke his leg after his four-wheel-drive vehicle was involved in an accident at Pasir Besar-Paling Road here on Monday.
Zaidy said the incident happened at 3.25am when he was on his way to a homestay in Palong 2, here after meeting with the party machinery in Bahau.
"Due to my driver being tired after a day of campaigning he slept at the passenger side and I took over the wheel
"However, as I arrived at the turn our vehicle crashed and went towards the left side of the road. The road conditions were quite dark," he said when contacted by Sinar on Monday.
Zaidy who is now hospitalised at the Jempol Hospital said he was thankful he was safe, but his driver was in a critical state.
"After resting for two or three days, Insya-Allah I will return to meet with the voters and I may need to use a wheelchair
"I hope everyone would pray for my quick recovery, I take this tragedy as a test from Allah," he said.
Zaidy said he was excited to return and meet with voters to ensure victory for BN in Jeram padang.
Tamping district police chief Superintendent Anuwal Ab Wahab confirmed the incident occurred.
He asked for the public with information regarding the incident to contact the Tamping district police department (IPD) traffic police station at the line 06-4412502 and Tamping IPD Operations Room at the line 06-4431999 to aid investigations.
"The investigation papers were opened under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the cause of the accident is still under investigations," he said.
