20 reports lodged over Sultan Nazrin's decree being politicised - Police
IPOH - Perak Police have received 20 reports lodged over a viral video which misused Perak Sultan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah's decree for political purposes.
The police reports were made by those who were unsatisfied with the wrongdoing and urged actions to be taken against the individual who manipulated the Perak Sultan's decree for their party's importance.
Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said all reports related to the incident were lodged on Sunday at the district police headquarters (IPD) across the state.
"As of this morning, we have received 20 police reports lodged against the woman in connection to the issue.
"The investigations are being done by the Bukit Aman police," he told reporters in a press conference at the Perak contingent police headquarters (IPK) here on Monday.
The viral video clip recorded a woman who was believed to be a Melaka Pas Muslimat leader taking a small excerpt from His Majesty's decree in 2013 which spoke about Pas.
The video clip was uploaded on the Melaka Pas Muslimat Hall Facebook on Nov 11, 2022.
Sultan Nazrin's decree in the video clip was for the Ummah Unification Wacana, organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) at Tun Syed Nasir Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 19, 2013.
His Majesty at the time was the Perak Regent and spoke on the ummah unification issue involving Umno and Pas as two dominant Malay political powers in the nation.
