SHAH ALAM - The Selangor government does not intend to continue the Petaling Jaya Traffic Dispersal Elevated Highway (PJD-Link) project suggested and decided to cancel its application.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said based on the impact assessment released especially from the results of the social impact report, the state government was not satisfied with the plan brought forward as it did not comply with the conditions set by the government.

"The principle of this administration is so that Selangor's development achieves a balance between sustainability, economic progress and that the development does bring any harm to the people of Selangor," he said in a statement on Monday.

Amirudin said the state government previously observed several aspects regarding the suggestion of the highway construction in the Petaling Jaya area.

He explained initially the construction suggestion was approved in principle in Parliament on Nov 12, 2017.

"The suggestion was then tabled in Parliament on Nov 12, 2021 through the Cabinet Memorandum for a conditional approval to fulfill all conditions set by the Selangor government.

"Following that, the concession agreement between the Federal government under Perikatan Nasional (PN) and the developer concerned was signed on April 5, 2022.

"The agreement was under the condition that they implement a full environmental impact assessment (EIA), social impact assessment (SIA) and traffic impact assessment (TIA) evaluations before the agreement was activated," he added.
