Husband, wife injured in cooking gas explosion
JOHOR BAHRU - A married couple were injured in a cooking gas explosion incident at Flat Desa Melayu, Bakar Batu on Sunday night.
According to the Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Haizrul Rahmad from the Larkin Fire and Rescue Station, they received a distress call regarding the gas explosion through the MERS999 hotline at 9.54 pm.
He said that upon receiving the call, an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team from the Larkin Fire and Rescue Station, comprising nine firefighters, rushed to the scene.
"When the team arrived at the scene, they found a cooking gas explosion had occurred on the ninth floor of the flat.
"There were two victims, a husband and wife, who sustained injuries due to the gas explosion," he said.
He added that the victims were given initial treatment before being sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).
The operation ended around 10.37 pm after confirming the safety of the surroundings.
