We want no one else but Sanusi as our MB - Kedah Pas insists
GURUN - Kedah Pas will back no one else but Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor as the party’s Menteri Besar candidate if Perikatan Nasional (PN) retains its grip on the state.
The commitment to naming Sanusi—who is also the Caretaker Menteri Besar—was revealed by Pokok Sena MP Datuk Ahmad Yahaya after a speech at a hustings at Dataran Caltex, here, last night.
"From a political perspective, we would like to stress that he is the one and only [MB candidate]. There are no second candidates from Kedah Pas.
"However, we do respect the process and proceedings in which such an appointment is made.
"Both Kedah Pas and PN will escalate their recommendations to the central leadership, which will then present them to His Majesty (the Sultan of Kedah)," he told the press.
PN’s MB candidate for the Kedah polls became a guessing game after Sanusi remarked yesterday that even he was unsure if he would be allowed to continue his tenure for another term should the coalition win the election.
On August 12, a total of 1,585,085 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in an electoral contest involving 83 candidates vying for Kedah’s 36 state seats.
