SHAH ALAM - PAS Assistant Secretary General Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman said he is still waiting for an invitation letter from PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, who wants to debate with him on economic matters.

The Bachok MP said his name had been mentioned since yesterday to replace caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Perikatan Nasional (PN) Information Chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who had rejected the challenge of a debate with the Economic Affairs Minister.

"No wonder I've been coughing since yesterday. Apparently, someone from far away was mentioning my name.

"I am in Bachok. I will wait for the invitation letter to arrive," he said in a post on Facebook on Sunday.

The media previously reported that Rafizi challenged Mohd Syahir to debate with him after Muhammad Sanusi and Mohamed Azmin rejected the challenge.

"Azmin has rejected, Sanusi has rejected, and I want to see if Syahir, appointed as the number one economic figure in PN, comes forward and has entirely given space (to debate).

"I will officially write (an invitation to debate) and wait for him to answer," he said when met after the Sikamat State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Civil Tour on Saturday night.

Rafizi said he would continue inviting PN representatives to debate because that culture needs to be brought in for national reform.
