People are tired of hearing leaders fighting - Aminuddin
SEREMBAN - The people today want leaders with innovative ideas and swift problem-solving skills rather than those who engage in conflicts, said Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The candidate running for the Sikamat seat in the Negeri Sembilan state election said his team is prioritising meeting with as many potential voters as possible to explain the Unity Government's mission, which is to ensure the welfare of the community.
"Our focus is not on character assassination as it does not provide solutions to people's problems. Instead, the party machinery should prioritise listening to the concerns of the people. If PH is re-elected to administer the state, we are committed to addressing the issues raised by the community. InsyaAllah, we will work towards resolving these problems.
"Personal attacks do not provide solutions to the people's problems... the people don't want to hear us (leaders) fighting, the people want to hear what the government plans are for them," he told reporters after campaigning at the Paroi Jaya Farmers' Market here.
The Port Dickson Member of Parliament said the PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates running for the Unity Government need to make the most of the two-week campaign period.
This includes meeting with as many potential voters as possible and taking note of any issues they may be facing, he added.
The incumbent Sikamat Assemblyman said that he is open to suggestions and constructive criticism from the public to facilitate necessary improvements.
Meanwhile, on predictions by some analysts that the PH-BN partnership could result in the party securing 36 seats in the state, Aminuddin said that it presents a challenge.
"We will work towards that, we need to show our commitment to work as a team, I hope they can meet as many voters as possible and pay attention to the problem and after winning we will have to take action," he added.
Aminuddin will be in a four four-cornered fight to defend his seat. The contenders are Ahmad Raihan Muhamad Hilal (Perikatan Nasional) and two Independent candidates, Bujang Abu and Mohammed Hafiz Baharudin.
The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day on Aug 12 and early voting on August 8. - BERNAMA
