DAP candidate Connie Tan assures voters that party is united
GEORGETOWN - Pakatan Harapan's Seri Delima candidate, Connie Tan Hooi Peng has assured that the coalition's component party, DAP, does not face any internal issues and is entirely focused on campaigning for the upcoming state election scheduled for Aug 12.
Earlier media reports suggested internal turmoil within the party, with some incumbent State Assemblymen expressing discontent after being dropped from contesting in the state election.
"I have not heard of any internal problems. As a DAP member, I can confidently say that our party is entirely focused on building a strong team for this state election.
"As you can see here, our team comprises both young and senior candidates.
"We are working tirelessly to earn the trust of the voters," Tan told Sinar Daily during a walkabout at Pasar Batu Lancang.
Stressing that DAP is a democratic party that believes in progressive politics, Tan highlighted that every party member has a platform to voice their opinions.
"As a team, there might be differences in opinions, but we come together, stand united, and recognise the importance of this election. We know we have to work collaboratively.
"I want to unequivocally state that my party does not have any internal problems, and I do not see any at all.
"Our objective this time is to win the state election and secure all 19 state seats in Penang for DAP," she added.
When asked about her strategy to attract voters for her state seat, Tan mentioned her plans to engage directly with the constituents.
"Not forgetting, I have served as a councillor for eight terms, which gives me a strong advantage in connecting with the people.
"For elderly voters, I aim to create a more vibrant environment that promotes a healthy lifestyle.
"As for our youth voters, being a youth myself, I believe there is no gap between us.
"Nevertheless, I will continue engaging with them and ensure that there is always room for interaction, with programs and policies beneficial to all the youth here," she added.
