PSM's Arul pledges to abolish racism and protect migrants' rights
KAJANG - S. Arutchelvan is determined to eradicate racial prejudice and advocate for migrants' rights as he competes for the Kajang seat.
Arutchelvan, also knows as Arul, who is running as Parti Sosialis Malaysia's (PSM) candidate in the upcoming state elections, made the pledge at a press conference in here today.
Arul will be running against David Cheong from Pakatan Harapan and Liew Sin Kim from Bersatu-Bersekutu.
“We are the party of the people, prioritising the welfare of citizens," he stated proudly.
During the press conference at Pasar Kajang, Arul recited a four-point anti-racism pledge, showcasing PSM's dedication to combating racism in Malaysia.
He stressed that PSM, in collaboration with Muda, aims to be a strong third force against PH-BN and PN.
“We are number three (PSM secured the third ballot paper number on nomination day). Three stands for the third voice," he explained.
Addressing the issue of local representation, Arul pointed out that while other parties often field candidates from outside Kajang, PSM remains deeply rooted in the community.
He acknowledged the late Cikgu Lee, a former Kajang assemblyman, and expressed PSM's long-standing presence in Kajang through their People's Service Centre, active for over 35 years.
In sharp contrast to other parties' racial politics, Arul asserted PSM's commitment to equality and refraining from playing the race card to garner votes.
"As a multi-racial country, everyone should be treated equally, and parties should not exploit racial divisions for political gains," he added.
Arul underlined PSM's stance on protecting the fundamental rights of migrants and refugees, as the party views itself as citizens' activists who speak up for the people and collaborate with NGOs and institutions.
"If I were to be elected to the Selangor State Assembly, I believe I can protect these fundamental rights," he affirmed.
Arul believes that his deep ties to Kajang and involvement in addressing local issues set him apart from other candidates.
