Voters will take into account that PN will not dare to debate - Rafizi
SEREMBAN - PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli is taking a chance this time inviting Pas deputy secretary-general Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman to a debate challenge with him on economic matters.
The challenge was made after caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who is also the Election Director of Perikatan Nasional and PN Selangor chief, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali refused to debate with Rafizi.
"Azmin has rejected. Sanusi has rejected. Since I have been given the opportunity to debate fully, I want to see if Syahir, appointed as the number one economic figure in PN, will come forward.
"I will officially write (an invitation to debate) and wait for him to answer," he said when met after the Sikamat State Legislative Assembly Civil Tour last night.
Previously, the media reported that Azmin, who was also the former Senior Minister of Economy, agreed to accept the debate challenge with the condition that Rafizi prove himself that he has succeeded in the implementation and recovery of the country's economy.
In the meantime, Rafizi said, he will continue inviting PN representatives to debate because that culture needs to be brought in for national reform.
"In addition to this, PN figures still lie to the people, repeat incorrect statements and repeatedly play up well-founded sentiments about the country's economy even though inflation has dropped and the stock market is performing well.
"When I was in the Opposition, I was the one who challenged the ministers to debate, but the ministers didn't want to. So, now we are giving the space to do so completely," he explained.
Meanwhile, Rafizi, who is the Economy Minister, reminded that 'on the fence' voters will assume that the PN leadership needs to be more brave to debate if they continued to reject the invitation.
He said the debate platform is the best way to answer the baseless accusations that have been thrown out all this while.
"They can say whatever they want, but the voters that are still undecided will take into account that PN will not dare to debate, meaning that they have no ideas and plans for the economy," he said.
