SHAH ALAM - Datin Janet Yeoh, the mother of Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is unaware of her daughter's wedding ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, last Thursday.

Janet, 84, however, has a positive outlook on the "secrecy" surrounding the wedding. She said she is hopeful that Michelle, 60, will eventually hold a reception in Malaysia.

"My daughter always calls me but during the conversation two weeks ago, she didn't talk about it (her wedding).

"Maybe she deliberately wanted to surprise me," she said in an interview with a Chinese media, today.

According to Janet, she is the happiest person to receive the news of her daughter tying the knot with her long-time boyfriend, now husband, former Ferrari CEO Jean Todt.

Janet said she has often asked them to marry as soon as possible.

"Todt has proposed many times but she would just laugh and say it's fun every time he proposes. Todt loves Michelle so much," said Janet.

News of Michelle's marriage to Todt, 70, leaked after former Formula One (F1) driver Felipe Massa shared in a post on Instagram on Friday.

The wedding ended Todt's 19-year wait to become Michelle's husband after they engaged on July 26, 2004.
