GOMBAK - Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) needs to win in Selangor to ensure that caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari can resume his excellent administration in the state.

PH-BN Gombak Setia candidate Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin said that Amirudin had brought Selangor to the next level.

He said that his party would not only focus on the campaign in Gombak Setia because it was important to ensure that PH-BN sweeps off all 56 seats in Selangor.

"This is important because Selangor poll is not just an election, but a determinant of the future and direction of the state as well as the prosperity of the people.

"Let's not lose votes, especially from young people who need to be kept away from the politics of provocation, insult and slander as well as unnecessary hate in Selangor.

"We also need to ensure that the young generation embraces a positive politic that can ultimately bring comfort to the people of Selangor," he said after the nomination for Gombak Setia state assembly candidates at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Pusu on Saturday.

Gombak Setia witnessed a three-cornered clash involving Megat (PH-BN), Muhammad Hilman Idham (PN) and Mohamed Salim Mohamed Ali (independent).

He said that Selangor needs to remain under PH-BN's administration to ensure that it is in line with the central administration to continue the agenda of prosperity.

In the meantime, the Selangor Umno communications chief said that his party was open to accepting invitations from any party for an open debate involving the candidates in Gombak Setia.

"I have no problem accepting an open debate with other candidates because this is also one of the ways to present an offer to the voters and the people are the ones who can make assessments.

"Let's not see this debate stage as a medium to criticise or humiliate anyone.

“I support such a medium (debate) if it is agreed by the other candidates," he said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim accompanied the march of three PH-BN candidates to Sungai Pusu nomination centre.

PH-BN nominated Sungai Tua state assembly candidate Amirudin while Gombak named Setia Megat and Hulu Kelang fielded Juwairiya Zulkifli.
