Donations to PN for state election campaign not an offence - Muhyiddin
RAIHAM MOHD SANUSIGOMBAK - Donations to run the state election campaign channeled to Perikatan Nasional is not an offence, said Perikatan Nasional Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Pagoh MP said that the donation does not need to be disputed since it was the result of hard work by supporters to help the coalition campaign run smoothly.
"Yes, my accounts are all frozen and all these donations are the people's (supporters') money to assist Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and PN.
"So why do we have to question this because I don't dispute how much (money) they (Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional) spent (on their campaign)," he told reporters at the candidate nomination centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Pusu, here today.
Muhyiddin mentioned this while commenting on the source of funds after receiving the support of more than 5,000 supporters during the nomination process.
Meanwhile, the former Prime Minister also slammed several cash aid announcements announced by the government earlier this week.
According to him, cash assistance to the people was suddenly done in just two weeks.
"He previously promised and people waited, yet nothing was given. "Suddenly now you have money. Look, this is what (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been doing all along," he added.
Muhyiddin was first to accompany the PN candidate for the Hulu Kelang state assembly, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali; Gombak Setia state assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham and Sungai Tua state assemblyman Hanif Jamaluddin's arrival at the nomination center at about 8.40am.
