'Zahid normalising corruption' - Syed Saddiq
SINAR DAILY REPORTERSHAH ALAM - Muda president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman has slammed Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for offering "sweeteners" in return for votes.
In a tweet, he said that Zahid's actions were "just the normalisation of corruption."
He was referring to a speech Zahid made to voters in Terengganu yesterday, in which he announced an additional grant of RM100,000 for Terengganu youth, RM250,000 in aid for the Terengganu Malaysia Youth Council, and RM200,000 for a motoring association in the state.
Zahid said that the amount may be increased depending on the performance of youth in the Terengganu elections on Aug 12.
Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional are trying to wrest the state from Perikatan Nasional.
In a statement yesterday, electoral watchdog Bersih criticised Zahid over the same speech, saying the Bagan Datuk MP violated two of the 3Cs prohibition during the election – ‘no campaign’ and ‘no conditions’.
The third prohibition refers to ‘no candidates’.
