Govt does not restrict state polls candidates from using media to campaign - Fahmi
GOMBAK - The government does not restrict or prevent any state elections candidates from using broadcast and social media during the campaign period.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the ministry welcomed the media to conduct interviews and debates through its respective platforms like what Sinar Harian and Astro Awani did.
He said Malaysia is a democratic country and all parties needed to practice mature politics including the practice of debating instead of making it a habit to mock and throw accusations against each other.
"If there is a party that wants to hold a debate like on Sinar Harian that has been active in holding interviews and Astro Awani that was the host for the debate between Rafizi Ramli and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, it would create a very positive atmosphere.
"All media are welcomed to get involved using their respective platforms to hold discussions and debate instead of competing by throwing accusations or mocking," he said when met at a nomination centre at SMK Sungai Pusu.
SMK Sungai Pusu is the nomination centre for Sungai Tua, Gombak Setia and Hulu Kelang state assemblies.
