Tensions escalate between PH, PN supporters
NILAM NUR ATIKAH OSHMANSHAH ALAM - Tensions escalated between supporters of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a little provocation by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's party triggered loud arguments and chants.
The situation unfolded in front of the Memorial Hall of the Petaling Land and District Office on Saturday, where both parties engaged in heated cheers, trying to outdo each other.
PN supporters initiated the confrontation by singing the song 'bandits', leading to a retaliatory response from PH supporters with shouts of 'malaun' (cursed) and 'undur Mahathir' to mock PN.
Caught in the middle of the clash were supporters of the Malaysian Socialist Party, who found themselves in a challenging position.
Approximately 300 PN supporters gathered, chanting 'rise again', while over 100 supporters from PH and Barisan Nasional, donning red and blue shirts with the slogan 'Perpaduan Ready,' showed their unity.
The confrontation underscored the heightened emotions and political fervor in the lead-up to the elections.
As the campaigns intensify, supporters from different parties are fervently expressing their loyalty and enthusiasm, shaping the charged atmosphere at political gatherings and nomination centers.
