KUALA LUMPUR - Former senior minister of the Economic Cluster, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, has agreed to participate in a debate with the current Economy Minister, Rafizi Ramli.

However, he set a condition for the debate, demanding that Rafizi prove his success in implementing and recovering the nation's economy.

During yesterday's Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate introduction ceremony speech, Azmin expressed his willingness to debate but challenged Rafizi to fulfill his promise of lowering oil prices.

"First you (Rafizi) should drop the price of oil. I didn't promise it, you were the one who promised.

"Today I'm the prime minister, tomorrow the oil prices will drop. Has it dropped yet? If not, lower it first then see me," he said.

Azmin defended his stance by stating that he has a track record of successful initiatives while managing Selangor and during his tenure as a minister.

He claimed that Rafizi lacks the required records or a concrete formula to present during the debate, suggesting that it would be fruitless to engage in a debate without a basis for discussion.

Rafizi had challenged Azmin to a debate on Malaysia's economy during his speech at the Jelajah Madani ceramah in Sri Tanjung, Port Dickson. Azmin's acceptance of the challenge indicates his willingness to engage in a discussion regarding the nation's economic affairs.
