Heroic Kampung Chennah chief enters political fray against Anthony Loke
SEREMBAN - An intriguing development has emerged in the clash between the unity government and Perikatan Nasional (PN) for the Chennah state seat, with the Kampung Chennah chief, Rosmadi Arif, set to challenge the incumbent Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
Rosmadi Arif, a 52-year-old member of the Jelebu Committee, was previously hailed as a hero by the Transport Ministry for his efforts in rescuing over 70 individuals stranded in the Perkampungan Orang Asli Kampung Esok during a major flood.
Despite facing a prominent figure like Anthony Loke, Rosmadi remains undeterred.
"I believe that competition is part of the process, and regardless of our opponents, the party remains the same.
"As a PN representative, I am prepared to face anyone.
"Even if they are well-known, I, as a newcomer, will fight until the end," he said during the Negeri Sembilan PN Candidate Announcement Ceremony held on Thursday.
Rosmadi acknowledged Loke's standing as an outstanding individual but stressed his determination to secure PN's victory, given the party's trust in him.
"I don't mind going against anyone because my goal in this contest is to emerge victorious," he added.
In the 14th general election (GE14), Loke successfully defended the Chennah state seat by defeating BN and Pas candidates with a majority of 1,155 votes.
